Use your birth chart to develop your sense of style

Jenna Ortega - Venus in Scorpio

Published September 27, 2024

If you're looking to develop your sense of personal style, you can use your birth chart to figure out what colors and styles will work best for you.

Jenna Ortega, who is killing it with her looks on this Beetlejuice press tour run, is a perfect example of dressing by your birth chart. Jenna has her Venus in Scorpio, and Venus is the planet that rules beauty, aesthetic, creative self expression with fashion.

Scorpio is the water sign that is ruled by Mars. Mars rules the color red, and in its water expression, which is a much darker energy than its fire expression of Aries, it also rules over the colors maroon and burgundy. If you have really any significant Scorpio placements, but especially Venus in Scorpio, this color is gonna look good on you every single time. (And this is coming from someone with Venus in Scorpio, whose wardrobe is pretty much 50% burgundy and maroon).

In modern astrology, Scorpio is ruled by Pluto, and Pluto is the planet that rules death and darkness, and it is associated with the color black; so rocking an all black fit is also a very good look for Venus in Scorpio. The other 50% of my wardrobe is pretty much all black.

Here's another example. This look is so killer. She destroyed it with this in the best possible way. She has all of these red tones, these Martian accents; accompanied with the maroon darker burgundy colors; incorporating all the different flavors of Scorpio into her aesthetic.

Someone also said, “I like how scary movies and spooky themes are just her thing,” and this aligns so perfectly with her Venus in Scorpio also. Venus rules the signs Taurus and Libra, and both of these signs talk about the traditionally acceptable forms of femininity according to the patriarchy, being soft spoken and dainty and flowery with ribbons and bows and pearls.

When Venus is in Scorpio, which is opposite Taurus, Venus is in her detriment, and it's a much more intense energy that is less delicate and dainty and much more spooky. So, this whole leaning into the darker themes of scary movies and spooky themes like Beetlejuice, Wednesday Addams, they fit the Venus in Scorpio brand very, very perfectly.
